Their goal was to establish a compelling digital presence to attract both domestic and international tourists, positioning South Sumatra as a premier travel destination.

Problem
South Sumatra possesses immense tourism potential, yet lacked a comprehensive, modern, and engaging online platform to effectively showcase its myriad attractions, cultural events, and natural beauty to a global audience. The challenge was to create a digital hub that not only served as a primary reference for travelers but also provided an immersive experience, encouraging visitation and investment in the local tourism sector.
Goals
To develop a visually stunning and highly functional website that acts as the authoritative digital gateway to South Sumatra. The objective was to enhance visibility, drive tourism interest, provide detailed and accurate information on destinations and events, and offer innovative features like a 360 virtual tour to captivate potential visitors.

Research & Discovery
I conducted extensive research into current tourism website trends, competitor analysis, and best practices for showcasing cultural and natural heritage online. The strategy focused on leveraging WordPress CMS for its robust content management capabilities, allowing the client to easily update and expand the vast amount of tourism data. Emphasis was placed on creating an intuitive user journey, ensuring that visitors could effortlessly discover destinations, events, and immersive experiences like the 360 virtual tour. A key objective was to ensure optimal performance and responsiveness across all devices to cater to a diverse global audience.

I developed the Pesona Sriwijaya Website, a dynamic and visually rich online platform built on WordPress CMS with custom enhancements using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This website serves as the definitive digital showcase for South Sumatra’s tourism and cultural assets, designed to attract and inform visitors worldwide.

Role & Contributions
I was responsible for the end-to-end development of the Pesona Sriwijaya website. My key contributions included customizing the WordPress CMS to integrate unique tourism functionalities and content structures, developing and optimizing the 360 virtual tour experience, crafting responsive and engaging user interfaces with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and ensuring robust performance and SEO best practices. I managed the entire development process, from initial conceptualization and design implementation to deployment and ongoing optimization.
Results / Outcomes
The Pesona Sriwijaya website has successfully transformed the digital presence of South Sumatra’s tourism sector. The 360 Virtual Tour has garnered significant attention, increasing user engagement and providing a unique value proposition for potential visitors. Learnings & Future Steps
This project significantly expanded my expertise in developing large-scale, content-rich tourism platforms on WordPress, specifically in integrating advanced interactive features like VR. It highlighted the importance of visual storytelling and dynamic data presentation in the tourism domain. Future developments could include multi-language support for broader international reach, online booking integrations with local vendors, or interactive travel planning tools to further enhance the user experience.
